Ground-breaking ceremony for new plant in Romania - around 3000m² of new production space for the European market

At the beginning of August, the Nabburg-based company emz-Hanauer gave the go-ahead for the construction of a new production site in Romania as planned. The ground-breaking ceremony took place on 4th August 2022. CEO Thomas Hanauer and SVP Finance Andreas Weidmüller travelled from Nabburg to Resita to symbolically start work with the new Romanian site manager Daniel Olaru. The construction is scheduled to begin in the near future and production is already scheduled to start in spring 2023.

In the first step, around 4900m² of new space will be created for production, warehouse, office and canteen, of which 3000m² pure production area. The number of jobs to be created will then take place depending on the order situation. The order books are well filled, and the signs point to further growth, but the Bavarian company, like so many others, is also struggling with difficulties in the supply chain. "Even if we manage to get the parts necessary for our products, it can happen that the customer cannot produce because of other missing parts, so the actual sales situation is currently difficult to predict." says CEO Thomas Hanauer.

emz-Hanauer is a supplier for the international market for large household appliances. Components and systems such as door locks, lighting systems or ice and water systems are to be manufactured in Resita. They are used in washing machines, dishwashers, dryers and refrigerators. In these segments, emz is the world market leader and supplies all major manufacturers. Electrolux, Whirlpool, Bosch/Siemens, Miele, Liebherr, Samsung, GE and Haier are important customers.

When selecting production sites, emz follows the idea of "local for local" for both customers and suppliers to be positioned as close as possible to its partners. This means that European locations supply the European market. According to this system, the company currently has locations in Germany, China, Mexico and the Czech Republic.

The arrival to Romania had become necessary because it was no longer possible to recruit enough workers at the site in Cernosin/Czech Republic. "The market here is practically empty due to many settlements of international companies," says Operations Manager Veit Schmucker. Romania is a member of the European Union, has an old industrial tradition and offers well-trained employees. Mechanics, electricians, quality engineers, logisticians and production personnel will produce highly innovative products for the European market at the Resita site for emz-Hanauer from 2023.

The future site manager of the new plant in Romania is already on board and acts very successfully as a coordinator on site. “The cooperation with local authorities has so far been excellent.” says General Manager Daniel Olaru. The mayor of Resita has already been to Nabburg and has inspected the headquarters of emz-Hanauer. All signs point to the rapid implementation of this new location, which is important for emz worldwide.

Residential Complex in Steinbach Germany completed

After the project developer went bankrupt and left the complex unfinished and full of defects in 2019, the insolvency administrator commissioned Weropa GmbH BauConsult with the project management for the completion, which was financed from a special contribution by the owners. After 3 years of preparation and construction, the project was completed in Q2/2022

IN 2020 FINE BUILDING CONSULTANTS WAS AWARDED SEVERAL DESIGN CONTRACTS

During the year 2020 we succeeded to win several small design contracts. Beside the DDE for Geiger Proiecte Constructii for their office building in Bucharest, we did design for IttenBrechbuehl Architects in Bochum, Germany for the refurbishing of the Max Wittmann school in Dortmund.

Together with our German “great” founding member Weropa GmbH BauConsult, we offer Process Audit Services for construction companies, developers, property & facility management providers and others.

Beside this we expanded our current services in the area of contract management and cost controlling services in cooperation with Weropa GmbH and a law office  beyond the boundaries to both countries, Germany and Romania.
